Disruptive posting: Flaming or offending other users. Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 bit. Tags 4. The drive was showing up there and when I right clicked and choose Usb-atapi4 bridge controller it popped up in My Computer and seems to be working fine. So the device manager entry is correct.

Is the issue persists with the particular External hard drive? You can update drivers from the Device Manager. If you can see the drive in Disk Management, mount usb-atapi4 bridge controller from there. See if that takes care of the issue. Thanks for the suggestion.
I didn't know where the driver was in the first place as it installed it automatically the first time I plugged it in. As always, use your own discretion with all advice here. She interrupted a Windows 10 update and every time she turned on the computer, it got the PXE-E No boot filename received error, followed by "Reboot and Select proper Boot device I've used this adapter now for about 4 years and this is the only time I've had any issues with PnP. Drive starts up just fine, no odd sounds from it, even sounds like it thinking when I get the chime from my computer that a device was plugged in. Sometimes I'll get the yellow caution usb-atapi4 bridge controller next to the device in Device Manager, and when I do the troubleshoot it just uninstalls the drivers and instructs me to reboot.
However, that hasn't worked.

EmmettFitzsimmons Replied on March 8, In reply to Sangeeta Sarkar's post on February 29, Right click on the external hard drive usb-atapi4 bridge controller and click on Update driver. All were recognized as USB to ATA/ATAPI bridges and wouldn't.
